How to measure for your cover
1. Measure out how far you want your cover. Measure to the end of your concrete.
(example) if your concrete measures 12' that is how far your cover will go, your header or post will set back 1' from the edge. This measurement is called the (Projection)
2. Measure the width of your cover, you can measure to the nearest foot or to the nearest inch if you prefer. This measurement is called the (Width)
3. Measure your height, you want to make sure you cover all windows and or trim. This measurement is important for correct post height. This measurement is called your (Height)
4. If you want a fan for your solid cover you will need a special aluminum beam and beam cover, the beam is installed on the top side of your cover and than the cap goes over it to hide wiring and protect it from leaking. This is a must if you want to install a fan and should be done when cover is being built. Make sure when purchasing a fan that you get one that says for exterior use.
In the instruction it may say to use a ledger board however that is not necessary if you are mounting to the fascia or eve, on a solid patio cover when mounting to the wall or stucco you do not need a ledger board you need to just make sure you hit the wall studs, on a lattice cover if you are building above a window or door you can probably hit the header above and you will not need a ledger board, Also on the solid cover it shows gutter for the side of your patio cover roof this is a old way of building and is not necessary or used any longer.
